Guided tour of Pisa. The glorious Maritime Republic, the birthplace of Galileo, prestigious university and cradle of romanesque architecture that sees his triumph with the Square of Miracles.
Transfer to the spa town of Montecatini for hotel accommodation. Free afternoon. Dinner in the hotel restaurant.
A full day entirely dedicated to discovering Florence, cradle of the Renaissance and stronghold of the Medici family. Our morning guided tour includes the Ponte Vecchio, the Cathedral, Piazza della Signoria. Afternoon free to explore the wonders of Florence like the Uffizi Gallery, the Academy or to enjoy the atmosphere of the San Lorenzo market and luxury shops. Return to the hotel for dinner.
Morning dedicated to discover San Gimignano, the city of the towers. A mediaeval town remained intact through the centuries, located on a hill, San Gimignano is famous for its numerous towers, the frescoes of its cathedral and its white wine, the “Vernaccia” as well as its saffron production.
We visit Volterra in the afternoon to see the roman and etruscan archaeological sites in the medieval historical center.
Departure for the medieval walled town of Lucca, a powerful financial centre of 1600, to take a guided tour of the old town surrounded by imposing perfectly preserved walls: a guided tour will include a visit of Piazza San Michele with its impressive church with a marvellous facade, the Cathedral of San Martino, hosting the tomb of Ilaria del Carretto, the famous Roman amphitheatre and the Museo Nazionale of Palazzo Mansi, located in the prestigious house of one of the most illustrious families of the city and hosting an impressive canvas collection. Free time to explore in the afternoon. Dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Montecatini Terme. Small charming town, immersed in nature and far from the noise of the city.
Known since antiquity for its sources of hot springs, Montecatini Terme is famous throughout Italy for its prestigious spas.
Its water is full of blessings and is used for many treatments. These treatments have relaxing virtues, stimulate blood circulation, improve metabolism , eliminate stress and beautify the skin texture . An entire day devoted to the “Remise en forme” in the exclusive SPA. Optional tours and excursions in Tuscany are also available.
Guided tour of Siena. A guided morning tour of Siena, the famous city of the Palio horse race and historic rival of Florence. One of the jewels of Tuscany with its marvellous square (Il Campo), monuments and churches. Free time for lunch.
Afternoon dedicated to the discovery of the senses in one of the most famous wine producing areas in the world. The Chianti region, between Florence and Siena, is a unique area with top quality estates overlooking the classical tuscan scenery of rolling hills and old farmhouses & castles. Visit of a XII century castle and its historic cellar. A tasting of wines and farm products is included. Dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Morning visit of the medieval town of Bolgheri, a beautiful hamlet historically belonging to the Della Gherardesca Family and also known for its “Viale dei Cipressi”. The village has kept its original aspect: the historical buildings, the old roads, charming corners and little shops create a fascinating atmosphere enriched by the astonishing view of the hills, the Mediterranean maquis, extensions of olive trees and a superb view of the sea and islands in the distance.
After free time to explore, the tour continues along the wine route of the local Doc, producing such famous wines as Sassicaia and Ornellaia. We visit a local estate.
Lunch is arranged in a typical restaurant in Castagneto Carducci with a selection of typical dishes to include home made pasta and the famous game and wildboar sauce. Castagneto Carducci is situated at the top of a hill in a fantastic position over Maremma, and has a stunning historical centre which is dominated by a castle still inhabited today by the Della Gherardesca. Dinner in the hotel restaurant.
