Livorno is an Italian port city located on the west coast of Tuscany. It is famous for its fish, its fortifications dating from the Renaissance and its modern port welcoming cruise ships. Its central seaside promenade Terrazza Mascagni, covered with a checkered flagstone, is the main meeting point of the city. The bastions of the 16th century Fortezza Vecchia fortress face the port and open onto Little Venice, a district of Livorno with many canals. We will continue with a visit to the Synagogue of Livorno. The Jewish community of Pisa received the privilege of founding a branch at Livorno with a Synagogue and cemetery. In 1597, the Jews of Livorno received autonomous rights as a community, and they built a Synagogue in 1603.
Lucca: After the visit we continue to nearby Lucca. We will have free time for lunch in the city. Today it boasts one of the most extraordinary Tuscan art legacies.
